After missing teaching at the International Dance Fest in Poland for the last two years due to COVID 19, long term international instructor Michelle Wurtz, was able to return this summer and was the only American instructor invited back this year! She taught three techniques: African Dance, American Jazz, and Broadway Jazz and her classes were very popular.
Michelle based her African Dance classes on Western and Afro-Brazilian styles, and students did a contemporary work set to music by the Voices of East Harlem.
Since Jazz technique constantly evolves, Michelle decided to place a heavy emphasis on Latin influences and set a work to Shakira, originally of Columbia.
When teaching Broadway Jazz in Europe, Michelle relies heavily on the influences motion pictures, knowing that Broadway New York is a far away region to those living in European Countries. Michelle went with an old favorite from the movie musical, “Mon Heir” from “Cabaret”.
