We offer a wide range of dance instruction
**Please note: Summer Classes for Dancers Age 4-7
After closely monitoring national authorities and other organizations that work with children, we have decided that all 2020 Summer Programs (classes and camps) for children age seven and younger will remain virtual throughout this summer. We are confident that this is the best method for protecting our students, their families, and our staff until we know better how COVID 19 behaves. (Classes for students that are older may transition to in-person or a hybrid format but that will be determined at a later date.) Ms. Krysta will be teaching Creative Movement and Intro to Ballet and Modern/Jazz which begins July 6 so sign up and you will use her Zoom code. Explore Ballet basics, classroom structure, and embrace fun creativity. Ms. Michelle will run Princess Camp the week of July 27, so sign up and use her Zoom code that week. Learn the storyline and concepts of Sleeping Beauty, Winter Wonderland with the Nutcracker with some movie friends, Hawaiian Princess Dances with crafts, and MUCH MORE!
**Classes for students that are older may transition to in-person or a hybrid format but that will be determined at a later date. Stay alert for details via email as COVID guidelines get updated.
Though PDT is aware that our state is moving to a green phase, we feel this is best for the time being. We look forward to getting back to the studio!
We place students in the level that will challenge the student technically, yet build and maintain self-confidence. It is common to remain in the same level for more than one year. Students are most successful when they progress at their own pace.
The school offers classes in Ballet and Pointe, Tap, Modern, Jazz, African, Hip-Hop, Creative Movement, Irish, Break Dance, Highland, Musical Theater, and Pilates. We base the ballet program on the Vaganova Syllabus, as set up by the school of the Kirov Ballet in Russia. We welcome the student who works toward a career in dance, as well as the student that dances purely for the joy of movement and the benefits that transfer into daily living.
In First Steps and Creative Movement we focus on imagination, musicality, enhanced motor skills, flexibility, and classroom etiquette. [Ages 3-5]
In Pre-Ballet, Ballet 2, and Introduction to Tap and Jazz, stronger fundamentals of these techniques are presented while still allowing students to thoroughly enjoy the learning process through various games and imaginative exploration. [Ages 6-9]
Classic Joy of Movement
The Pottstown Dance Theatre is different from many other local schools in that we try to create and encourage students to be artists in their own right. True artists focus on the creative process and know that training is a lifelong process; therefore we do not place a heavy emphasis on an end of year recital and our teaching curriculum spans the entire school year. Every student, regardless of long term goals, is encouraged to master skills they learn in order to appreciate self-discipline, determination, and the confidence that comes from setting and achieving goals. We have positively affected students’ lives for over fifty years.
Intensive and Academy Programs
The Intensive Program is set up as a minimum of two ballet classes weekly (preferably three), and another dance genre of the student’s choice. When the student is ready, pointe work is often introduced to female students.
The Academy Program is set up for semi-private classes two days a week; studying ballet, modern dance, some jazz, Pilates, visual art as it relates to dance, choreography, dance history, theater costuming and techniques, and anatomy.

"I’m amazed at the progress [my daugher] has made in her technique and love for dance in just two years. The instructors are phenomenal. They are caring and extremely well versed in a variety of dance from ballet to hip hop to modern to tap and even Irish... The older students take the younger students “under their wing” to make them feel part of the Pottstown Dance Studio family making the learning experience very enjoyable."
"Both of my children have been dancing here since they were four. The staff is amazing. Not only are my children learning the art of dance, but they're learning discipline, dedication, and respect in the process. This is the place to come if you want your children to learn dance in a supportive, nurturing environment."
"The teachers are amazing and they cultivate such a caring and supportive environment for each and every student."
"World class dance instruction from great people, and at a really good price, too. I wish I had found this studio sooner!"
