Pottstown Dance Theatre opened its Downingtown studio in January 2008 in the United Sports Training Center complex. The studio was previously known as Dance International, owned by Andrei Ustinov and Elena Martinson, world-renown ballet instructors; they are currently on-staff at both studios.

Pottstown Dance Theatre focuses on the growth of students as individuals. We believe that since dance is a performing art, performance experience is integral to dance education. We do not, however, place a heavy emphasis on a spring recital, and our teaching curriculum spans the entire school year.

We place students in the level that will challenge the student technically, yet build and maintain self-confidence. It is common to remain in the same level for more than one year. Students are most successful when they progress at their own pace.

We offer classes in Ballet and Pointe, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Creative Movement, Highland, and Stretch classes. We base the ballet program on the Vaganova Syllabus, as set up by the school of the Kirov Ballet in Russia.

We welcome any student who dances purely for the joy of movement, who seeks the healthy benefit that transfers into daily living, and who might work toward a career in dance. All athletes benefits from multiple cross-training activities, such as dance.
